Bike Week urges everyone to improve their health, lose weight, save money, reduce pollution and save gas by bicycling and walking. Citizens will be encouraged to “Bike to Work, Shop and Play” to increase public awareness of the benefits of cycling. To support this initiative, the Punta Gorda Police Department will be active with their Bike Patrol Officers and squad cars during the week.  To launch Bike Week there will be a “No Spandex Allowed” leisurely bicycle ride around Punta Gorda on Saturday June 7th starting at 8;30 am from the ACME Bicycle Store at 615 Cross Street, Punta Gorda.
