Charlotte County Health Department
Grand Opening Celebration
Pediatric Clinic - Port Charlotte
The Charlotte County Health Department
announced the Grand Opening of its Primary Care Pediatric Clinic, Wednesday,
January 23, 2008 at 2:00 pm. The grand opening celebration took
place at the Charlotte County Health Department’s recently relocated Port
Charlotte clinic. The clinic is located at 1994 Kings Highway, Port Charlotte.
Charlotte County has fallen into a
tremendous deficit regarding the ratio of pediatric health care practitioners to
pediatric clients. As of 2006, there are approximately 27 physicians
(11 pediatric physicians and 16 family
practice physicians) to provide primary care for over 24,000 Charlotte County
children. Secondly, what local parents and programs are discovering is that
pediatricians in the area have already maxed out their available Medicaid and KidCare client lists as well as being able to take on new insured patients. The
third barrier is the number of uninsured children in Charlotte County. We find
that almost half of the children in the county are currently unable to
access pediatricians because of their insurance status, or lack of insurance
coverage.
In order to meet the needs of our community,
the Charlotte County Health Department Pediatric Primary Care Clinic is
promoting healthy behaviors to protect health, strengthening community prevention, and
assuring access to quality health care. Clinical services include well-child
examinations, school physicals, sports physicals and treatment of illnesses.
Our team of board-certified practitioners is trained to educate, diagnose, and
treat common childhood illnesses. We accept Medicaid, and for those who are
uninsured or prefer to pay out-of-pocket, we accept cash, check, and credit
cards on a sliding scale fee basis. For additional information or to schedule
your appointment, contact our office at (941) 613-0950.
